     Training Division     

The Training Division develops, coordinates, delivers, and manages training and education to ensure that personnel are fully prepared. Training ensures that we continually provide the safest and highest level of service possible to our customers for emergency and non-emergency services.
Our firefighters all complete a variety of training and education programs including basic and advanced fire suppression tactics, fire service vehicle operations, technical rescue awareness (trench, confined space, vehicle, and rope rescue). The Training Division coordinates and delivers monthly training for basic and advanced life support emergency medical services (EMS) training. Weekly training is scheduled for each shift and delivered by fire officers, Paramedics, and guest speakers.
The training responsibilities of the division include instruction in the following areas:
  • Recruit basic training
  • Driver/operator defensive driving
  • Fire suppression training
  • Hazardous materials - awareness, operations, and technician
  • Emergency Medical Services - basic, intermediate and paramedic
  • Technical rescue - vehicle, water, confined space, rope and structural
The Training Division provides training according to Federal, State, County, and City mandates as well as NFPA National standards.
